Who am I? Well, my name is Twanna LaTrice Hill and, as much as I love it, I am so much more than that. I am a writer and actor who is an inner city born and raised, Ivy League educated, agnostic, Unitarian-Universalist, Buddhist (lite),tarot reading, disabled, single, straight, 61-year-old, Russian speaking, liberal female survivor who has seen too much and lived much more. Highly over educated I received a BA from Princeton University in 1986 in Slavic Languages and Literatures cum laude with minors in Creative Writing, Theater and Dance, and Soviet Studies. I also earned an MA from Harvard University in 1988 in Soviet Studies and an MA from Regis University in 1995 in Nonprofit Management. I am a passionate woman who is dedicated to ending violence in all its forms. I have yet to find a place that feels like what I imagine HOME should feel like, but I live in Denver and have lived here longer than anywhere else. I share my life, hearth, and heart with two amazing beings: the crazily attuned, loving, empathic, and unyielding Roxi who has been my service dog, life companion, and partner-in-crime for nigh on 11 years ; and Barclay, a fierce, 2-year-old coiled spring of energy who joined our family a few short weeks ago and is learning to serve in Roxi's stead whenever necessary and to succeed her if and when that time comes.
My Head is Full of Children!
I recently came across a piece of wisdom on Facebook. For it to be truly resonant, I chose to modify it what follows:
Healing can be so hard when:
your infant wants safety,
your toddler wants love,
your preschooler wants attention,
your pubescent wants friends,
your adolescent wants independence,
your teenager wants revenge,
and you want a corner to cry in and a heart that is healthy and whole.
Some of us have minds that NEVER shut down. We are opinionated, highly emotional, and much "too sensitive." Every fleeting sensation is of the utmost importance, every thought demands to be voiced and heard, whether others want to hear them or not.
Each of us in on a journey, the parameters of which only we can define. Mine has a soundtrack characterized by involves an insatiable need for self-expression. I extend an invitation to all creatives to come on in, have a walkabout, explore, challenge, grow, and play.
Welcome to the world inside my head! Please return your trays to their upright and locked position, forage and find your seatbelts (probably under your ass), buckle up, sit back, and get your shit together for one hell of a ride. The forecast is dynamic, turbulence is to be expected. The waters are warm but tempestuous at best, thunder claps and roils, and fingers of lightning flicker and flash. I promise a challenging and intriguing experience. Come on in - you will survive!
